§ 162-1. Removal from sidewalks required.

The owner or occupant of a house or any other building and the owner or person entitled to possession of any vacant lot and any person having charge of a church or public building in the village shall keep the sidewalk in front thereof free from the obstruction of snow and ice.

§ 162-2. Water, snow and ice not to fall on sidewalks.

No owner or occupant of a house or building adjacent to a street of the village shall allow snow, ice or water to fall from such building upon a street or sidewalk of the village. Leaders or drains erected or attached to the side of a house or building shall be placed so that a flow of water therefrom shall not run over a sidewalk of the village. A watertight drain may be erected and maintained for the passage of such water, ice or snow to the gutter of the street.

§ 162-3. Time limit for removal.

If the snow or ice on the sidewalk shall have accumulated thereon in the night, it shall be removed by 8:30 p.m. of each day; and if the storm causing such accumulation shall have occurred in the daytime, it shall be removed within twelve (12) hours after such storm shall have ceased.

§ 162-4. Failure to comply.

In case of failure or neglect to effect such removal, the Village Highway Superintendent may cause such accumulation to be removed, and he shall keep an account of the expense thereof and report the same to the Board of Trustees, which may order the amount of such expense to be assessed upon the owner of the property and added to the amount of the next annual village tax.

§ 162-5. Penalties for offenses.

Any person violating any of the provisions of this chapter shall be liable to a penalty set forth in Appendix C of the Code of the Village of Windsor containing the list of Fines and Penalties for the Village or imprisonment for not more than fifteen (15) days, or both, for each and every offense.*
